Student Senate has organized a Halloween dance for the whole school on November 7 at Fort Atkinson High School.

The Dance will be held as a fundraiser to collect food for the Fort Food Pantry sponsored by the Fort FEA. .  Students need to bring $4 or 4 food items for the pantry.

Tickets will be sold the first week of November, during  lunch hours.  In the past, FAHS hosted a Halloween dance, and it had a relatively high turnout.

“I think it would be fun having a Halloween dance, which would be a great fundraiser for the school and would be fun for all of the students to dress up and party with their friends.” Freshman Student Senate Member Naomi Engelke said.

The Halloween dance will be like any other dance with a DJ and decorations, however attendees will encouraged to dress up in costumes.

However, students do not have to dress up if they do not want to. Other options include dressing up formally, similar to other dances, or dressing in plain school clothes.

As is standard with school dress code, females are not allowed to show undergarments, cleavage, or to dress inappropriately.

“I feel if we have a Halloween dance, girls will take advantage of the fact and dress inappropriately to look like playboy bunnies,” Senior Brittney Freeman said.

In an effort to counter these worries, students who choose to wear a costume will still have to follow school rules by sticking to the dress code.  Though, some students may wear regular clothes if they feel that wearing a costume is inappropriate for students ages.

“To me, dressing up in costumes is kind of childish. I would much rather dress in regular clothes,” Freshman Nicki Smiley said.
