Clearly her best album, Britney delivers with tracks of hard-not to-dance-to songs that will be played for the next year on the radio, in clubs and downloaded to workout playlists.

Her fourth US #1 single, “Hold It Against Me” is fun and cute but lacks that special certain something. Though it quickly became an overnight hit, the song falls short of a “best song of the album” title. It’s not the worst, but songs such as “Big Fat Bass” (featuring will.i.am), “How I Roll” and “(Drop Dead) Beautiful” (featuring Sabi) are far superior tracks.

“(Drop Dead) Beautiful” is reminiscent of the earlier songs that made Britney famous and will make everyone, everywhere dance at the drop of a hat. The beat packs a dance-infused punch to Lady Gaga’s best and proves even more that Britney really is the new Madonna.

Unfortunately, the producer covered up her talented voice with loads of auto-tone. So much in fact, that I officially take back what I said about Ke$ha’s excess use of it, because Brit tops it with this album. Without it, the album would still be great (think pre-auto-tune overabundant hits such as “Stronger” and “Toxic”), and the generous use is not only overwhelming, but completely unnecessary.

Overall, the album is sure to be a success and is a treat to see Brit reign once again as the queen.

The overnight sensation, Owl City, consisting of singer/songwriter Adam Young, released a new album called Ocean Eyes featuring the hit single “Fireflies” September 1 this year.
Although “Fireflies” made its mark by topping the Billboard charts as #8 out of 100 hit titles, the victory for Owl City will be short-lived due to the mediocre performance of the rest of the album.

“Fireflies” is a very enjoyable song to listen to with its punchy, techno beat and sweet, thoughtful lyrics.

But as I continued to listen to the Ocean Eyes album I began to feel the need to remove the sugary, up-beat repetitive tune that coated my ear drums after each 4 minute song.
Instead of the supposed twelve separate songs that are written on the back cover, the entire album seemed to mesh together into one long and painfully happy-go-lucky tune consisting of a keyboard and the muffled tin can sound of Adam Young’s voice.

Even the supposed “sad lyrics” lose a lot of their impact when they are drowned out by the endlessly upbeat punches of the keyboard that eminate from every song on the album. If Young is trying to get a point across with his songs I sure hope it was a message involving sunshine, rainbows, and unicorns, if not it is definitely not coming across.

My suggestion is that you save nine dollars and just download the single “Fireflies” off iTunes for $1.29.

This one hit wonder album isn’t worth the money.

I suggest Adam Young change it up a bit.

He should put down the keyboard for a few songs, maybe add in a ballad here and there and create a jam packed album that will be enjoyable to listen to all the way through. Keep the fans guessing and always wanting more, don’t just give them the same song over and over again with a different title.
